Our Cosmetic Dentistry Services

We See Patients as Early as Their First Tooth

We strongly encourage parents to bring their child as soon as their first tooth appears or around their first birthday. This can prevent cavities on those first teeth and also help them become comfortable/familiar with the dental environment. We strive to create a fun and friendly environment for each patient and also offer nitrous sedation for extra comfort.

What to Expect for the First Visit

Your child’s first impression and comfort are very important to us. Our friendly staff will take x-rays and clean your child’s teeth if age appropriate. Once they are familiar and comfortable with our staff, our doctor will perform an exam. Depending on the child’s age and comfort level, the doctor can perform the exam while your child is in your lap or in the chair. We also provide education for parents on pacifier use, bottle-to-sippy cup transition, brushing, flossing, and oral development. After your child’s visit, we’ll reward them for their courage with a small prize.

Dr. David P. Thorup

Dr. David P. Thorup, DMD, is a native of the Salt Lake Valley and was raised in Sugar House for the first part of his childhood.

He loves practicing dentistry and has always taken pride in the quality of his work. He gains great satisfaction in helping people attain a healthy, beautiful smile. As a dentist, Dr. David P. Thorup focuses his efforts on achieving successful patient outcomes. He understands that obtaining this goal starts with a deep fundamental understanding of each dental specialty.

Dr. David P. Thorup

Dr. David P. Thorup, DMD, is a native of the Salt Lake Valley and was raised in Sugar House for the first part of his childhood.

He loves practicing dentistry and has always taken pride in the quality of his work. He gains great satisfaction in helping people attain a healthy, beautiful smile. As a dentist, Dr. David P. Thorup focuses his efforts on achieving successful patient outcomes. He understands that obtaining this goal starts with a deep fundamental understanding of each dental specialty.

Dr. Thorup received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and his DMD degree from the Medical University of South Carolina School of Dentistry where he also received an award for the “Best of the Best Excellence in Prosthodontics”. He completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Utah, where he was trained by some of Utah’s top specialists in the areas of implant placement, root canal therapy, wisdom teeth removal, and cosmetic dentistry.

Salt Lake City dentist Dr. David Thorup, DMD, specializes in both cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry procedures: including dental implants, tooth veneers, Invisalign clear braces, and more.

Dr. David P. Thorup is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and Utah Dental Association. He is an active volunteer in humanitarian dental missions. He has been a volunteer dentist with the “Rise and Rebuild Foundation,” an organization dedicated to helping people in the Philippines.

In addition to dentistry, Dr. David P. Thorup, DMD, loves spending time with his wife and son. As a family, they enjoy kayaking, hiking, traveling, trying new restaurants, and being a beach bum. In his spare time, Dr. Thorup likes to watch and play basketball, golf, and football.
